Brake   and   Lamp   Inspection   in   Glendale, CA

A brake and lamp inspection certificate is required to confirm your vehicle is "safe and roadworthy" before being retitled. If you want to "revive" a "salvaged vehicle", due to accident or theft damage, the DMV deems the ownership of the vehicle to be in question, even though you - the owner - remains the same. As a result there is a substantial amount of documentation that is required to certify the ownership of the vehicle and the condition of the vehicle itself.

As part of thhe re-registration process, the DMV requires a state licensed inspection station conduct a thorough and complete examination of critical brake and lamp components that may have been damaged or become misaligned from accident or theft damage.

Brake   Inspection

When we perform an Official Brake Inspection required by the DMV to re-register a "salvaged vehicle", we make sure all braking hardware is present and installed correctly; measure the brake shoes or linings, brake drums and rotors; check the vehicle can stop in less than 20 feet at a speed at 25 mph; and perform other tests.

Lamp   Inspection

When we perform an Official Lamp Inspection required by the DMV to re-register a "salvaged vehicle", we check all the original lighting equipment (lenses, reflectors, etc) is working and show no defects or damage; test the aim of the vehicle's headlamps; and perform other tests.

If your brake and lamp inspection fails, we'll explain the reasons and costs to repair. If you choose us to perform the necessary repairs, we won't charge for the re-inspection within 10 days of the original inspection. But if you decide to have another facility perform the necessary repairs, you'll have 10 days to bring your vehicle back to us for a re-inspection at 1/2 price plus the $7 for certificates.

If your brake and lamp inspection passes, we'll issue you the brake and lamp certificates.
